Can MobiTubia be ported from Symbian to Maemo? I like it. I don't know if there is a touch version for it.

With the great camera in the N900 built in, wouldnt some good photo sharing and video sharing apps be in the order ? What good is a camera phone and always connected tablet be of use if we cant integrate the two uses - photo/video and instant sharing.

I would definitely look for having apps like Shozu (available for S60) and QIK (also available for S60) be also available for the Maemo platform.

added : on further thought I might actually find it difficult to give up my N95 just because of these two criteria - a great camera and appps like Shozu to instantly share the photos to Flickr/Facebook/Blog site unless I fiind something equallyconvenient and featurefull.

I'd like to make sure anyany video downloader isn't just for one service like YouTube. I want a universal downloader like Realplayer for Windows. By the way, hi, texr4t. We met at the Symbian Meetup last month in Arlington. Good to see our communities merging, with Qt linking Symbian and Maemo

Until offline capability (via google gears?) and mobile layout becomes the norm rather than exception, specialized apps (widgets?) can provide better experience for mobile devices with small screen.

I think this should be covered in usability 101

EDIT: Qt apps work equally well right now for Symbian and Maemo right? Given the screen resolutions of S60v5 devices, there just might be a whole lot of inerplay between the platforms in terms of apps...
I read Ovi Maps 3.0 comes now with Voice Guidance included, and free for lifetime, on Nokia XM 5800 Navigator Edition...

So it seems Nokia gets it better...

What do you think about these applications found on this contest:

http://www.callingallinnovators.com/...finalists.aspx

Pocket Life (from Wanaka, New Zealand) is an established location-based social network for web and mobile. As a location-based lifestyle app, with Pocket Life for Ovi Maps on your Nokia device, individuals can always be in touch with their closest friends, down to knowing precisely where they are at that given time. Using Pocket Life, individuals can discover new places, share photos, and quickly know their way around like a local.

How do you navigate when there are no roads? Ground Guidance with Ovi Maps solves this problem. With technology originally built for the U.S. Army

Smart Eggs will bring the thrill of discovery and surprise to your explorations when using Ovi Maps. Crack open a Smart Egg to get a multimedia review of the latest movie, or get tips about special promotions from nearby shops. This clever mobile app for brands, artists, and venues interacts with consumers at the local level.

me360 uses the one resource more powerful than the Internet: You. Specifically, the depth of your personal desires, interests and tastes.

msgBoard, created by Viktor Csala (based in Budapest, Hungary), is a mobile social networking application providing a virtual black board (similar to a normal black board, or magnetic white board that can be found in the home) to closed user groups, such as a family or a small group of close friends. With msgBoard, users can post notes (e.g., buy some milk on the way home) and can set alarms related to time or location-based information derived from Ovi Maps (attached, for instance, to the grocery store). When the appropriate condition applies (e.g., one of the members of the group approaches the store), a reminder appears on that individual’s phone informing the individual what he/she is supposed to do.

I don't care much for the 'office' applications, Microsoft or not. DOC viewer might come handy... PDF reader is a must.

One thing I miss are more real time signal processing applications. Some examples mentioned around here lately are the iPhone ocarina and 4-track mixer apps, and barcode reader (QR code, etc), OCR... I started to make a vocoder gstreamer filter, let's see where it goes.

Being able to run Symbian or N-gage or other family of apps would be great, but I'm sure Mr. Willy Wokia tought of that and saw some kind of impediment.
