1st..I've had this username on *numerous* tech boards for *years*...so I might just as well point to texrat as ripping *me* off (though I won't do that, since he's not done anything to me to warrant such an exchange). Second, I'm not trolling..I'm pointing out flaws in your logic. If you don't like it, try saying something profound and/or intelligent.

Have a nice day

Hey man, my original comment was an opinion. Do i really need to IMHO in front of it? yeesh.

I didn't say I came down from on high, and this is my decree.

My whole point was, it puzzled me that if they were coming out with an iphone killer anyway, they didnt need to shrinkwrap the n900 into being a phone.

Not true at all. The Nokia 5800 is Nokia's best-selling smartphone right now, it's selling on a similar scale to the iPhone and it has a plain old resistive touchscreen with single touch and no keypad.

You might like multitouch and it might be useful in some situations but it is not mandatory. If it was mandatory why are so many non-keyboard non-multitouch touchscreen phones selling so well?
Well, maybe not mandatory, but it is a huge improvement for games, typing and many other usage UX.

So there will be a device on Mameo with capacitive display. Will you wait for that one or you will buy the N900?

Well, I see that a profound and/or intelligent statement from you is not forthcoming after all, given your response. So sad.

But back on topic, I'm glad to see nokia dip their toe into the capacitive pool. I think both technologies have their place, and in the American market I think capacitive probably has an edge (if done well) given the runaway popularity of the iphone. Time will tell.

I used to think that way, too, but it ignores the fact that one pays for a cellular radio they didn't need.

Ah, I was too hasty after all. Despite your crude attack on me earlier, I'll give you props for that.

The difference is: the X6 is no iphone killer. It's a nicer 5800 with a capacitive screen with unlimited music downloads. The N900, with it's far more extensible maemo environment, as far better positioned to take on the iphone (and android, for that matter). Different strokes for different folks...and all that...but I think the nokia folks themselves would have a little chuckle if someone seriously suggested that the X6 was poised to take on the iphone market space.

And again, if you don't want to use the n900 has a phone, don't put a SIM in it. It will still tether via bluetooth to another phone just as the N770, N800, and N810 before it did. I don't see the issue here. And again, for the rest of us who only want to carry a single device that does everything....HOORAY FOR NOKIA PUTTING A CELLULAR ENGINE IN IT!!!

*sigh*

I have no fight here. But on the other hand, you'll find my user name goes back about 15 years and pulls up a lot of garbage on Google.

I can co-exist though.
