I've just got my settings all wrong or something.

Like I call from my tablet, it rings my other tablet, I answer 2nd tablet and then it rings my home sort of nonsense.

I think my brain must have been leaking when going through the whole set up process.

I've got Dial Central working great on my end so I don't get why I'm having such difficulties doing the same for RTCOMM.

Thanks ahead to anyway willing to help me on this.
i know you don't want to hear this but: try the search function; you'll find it

Dude, I swear I have, for a couple of hours even.

291 pages of 25 threads per page on this and I can't seem to find that magic one which explains this in a way I can understand.

I was hoping someone knew the best one out there.

So what are your settings right now? It took me forever to finally get things setup too so I could try to help. Are you using Gizmo + Dialcentral or the built-in dialing client?

I'm currently using Dial Central and everything works just fine for me.

I was hoping to try the alternative of using the built in RTCOMM beta 2 to see if that offered better features.

Thanks.

The SIP client in RTCOMM isn't an alternative to Dial Central. It's an alternative to the Gizmo client.

If:
You currently use Dial Central to have Google Voice place free calls through Google Voice.
-AND-
You have Google Voice calling the Gizmo client on your tablet to establish your end of those free calls.
Then:
You could log into your account on the Gizmo web site, look at the SIP settings there, and configure the RTCOMM SIP client on your tablet with them. You'd still use Dial Central just as before, but you could uninstall (or just not use) the Gizmo client on your tablet. You'd be using the RTCOMM SIP client (Internet Call) instead.

Same Dial Central. Same Google Voice. Same SIP phone number. Just a different client.

Oh dear lord.

That's my exact setup the way you just stated. No wonder I was so confused.

I thought there was a way to only use "Internet Call" and not need Dial Central anymore.

Now I don't have Gizmo on my tablet but I do have it on my computer though I rarely ever turn my computer on. Is it okay to remove that software? I just used it to set up an account if I remember correctly.

Sorry for the weirdness before, I honestly thought that RTCOMM was an alternative to Dial Central.

Okay, I understand that much.

But hey, how do you make and receive phone calls then without Dial Central?

Thanks ahead!

Edit:
You only meant sending text messages, correct? Or can you actually dial out to someone from the GV webpage?

If so, I haven't tried that yet.

Yes, you can call directly from the webpage. Log in to gv and try it. The mobile version loads super fast. The tablet sip app (rtcomm) will pop up when you receive a call, no need for the gizmo software. However, i can't get the rtcomm touchtones to work well, which is why i still have gizmo on the tablet, and patiently wait for it to load before i call out from gv. (Only if i need touchtones.) Their tones seem to be louder. There are several tutorials about how to set it up.
