If the swipe-menu-thingy proves to be useful I'm pretty sure someone will create an imitation of it for Maemo... I wasn't that impressed about the other stuff seen on the videos, but these are really a matter of personal taste.

Imitation is good enough for me. I like the one handedness, when using it as a phone. I don't mind two handedness in other usage scenarios. I want both.

Some of us require one-handedness for certain browser usage, too.

Looking at the screenshots (haven't seen any videos of it in action) ...
it seems the screen real estate is wasted a lot just to be able to keep the menus all lined along the circle on the right side of the phone.

Hence most of the left side of the screen is left bank in all the selection menu screens.
While it looks new and very one-hand friendly interface, I doubth how practical it will be in real life and hiow much this will catch on.

But neverthless experiments in mobile usage is better rather than sticking with the desktop paradigms as in many OS's

I think these folks have palm PIM code too so hopefully PIM will be really sweet as well.

That interface plus Palm style Contacts, Todo, notes, Calendar, i would be in

Don't count on that. The Garnet (formerly named Palm) OS used a very non-standard contact's schema. It was partially upgraded in v5, but nothing much after that (was missing some SyncML and a few other standardized pieces.

You saw the video linked above right, the UI is very different. So don't expect the same approach to it.
