Right now, the greatest value lies in numbers: we need headcount!

If you talk to them, make it crystal clear you're not speaking for Nokia, in any way, shape or form... there, I covered my *** pretty well on this occasion

Quim, what is the standard procedure for organising an event? I believe it's still a bit premature to pick a specific venue but I do realise that people making first contact need to know what the rules are.

Cool, so many locations
I am in contact with people from the University of Salerno where I studied, there's plenty of interest in these devices.

As for the topics, any more concrete ones?

Well if you've followed the Barcelona "make-up", you'd noticed it grew pretty fast from a small event (UX meets Code) to something well beyond that.
No real rule, just throw in ideas, topics of discussions and see the follow-up.
The more the people are interested in a topic the more likely it'll be added to the agenda.

Great!! A maemo Italian long weekend would be definitly fantastic
And of course I am interested.
I would suggest as location also other place ( we have many beautiful places in Italy ) like Sicily ( were I live and I can also help to find out a venue ) ... moreover if the weekend would be done in spring... what about a maemo-beach-party
For the topics , I suggest something to introduce maemo and the community ( mandatory topic I think ) and also some good talk on how to develop on the device.
I will contact other italian community to know more on what they would like.

Sorry, I meant rules for contacting venues: what did the people who went scouting for Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen do/say? Are we looking for a space to rent or some university offering shelter would be fine?

Another topic I'd like to see, at least in the form of a workshop: tips and tricks for making an extra application fit in the system. Not just the UI, but hooks, policies, you name it.

First get a potential critical mass of interest. Pinning down date and city can be done also with the help of Nokia Italy.

That's what we're trying to do.
While we wait for feedback we were working out a list of potential candidate cities and dates.

Sounds great for me. Since I'm from L'Aquila, I'm voting for a central city (lazy me). But for sure I'm interested, especially if there will be introductory/getting started topics (both on development and community) discussed.

Hi,

Nokia Italy (together with Forum Nokia) is planning a developer event for ealry 2010, and I don't see why we can't combine those as things are still under definition. So once we have this critical mass I can take it up from the Forum Nokia side..
