Nothing is stopping your from installing the Fennec/whatever-it's-called-now version of Firefox, which works great on N900.
I think XUL is there on the N900. The add-ons dialog looks a lot like XUL. Well, it looks exactly like Firefox and the whole Firefox UI is XUL.
