I had this exact issue happen to me a few days ago while away from the house. Same corner of the lens cover came loose slightly and spring popped out of place. I temporarily taped the cover closed and luckily I didn't lose the spring (it came completely out shortly after it popped partially out of place). Sadly it was on xmas so I couldn't easily use the camera after this happened.

Just got around to putting the spring back in like the OP, but yeah the glue is now weaker and I can see it will happen again soon. Good to hear that someone else had luck getting just a new cover shipped to them. I do not want to exchange the whole phone (I've had none of the hardware issues like watchdog reboots that some other people are having).

It will pop of again.

But I didn't had it send to me but there is an emergency repair point for nokia, samsung and SE just 20 km from my home. They've some parts on stock and can repair things right away.

ah. so ur replacement cover also had the issue again? hmm i might attempt to carefully superglue it... it was a pain in the butt to get the spring in position, though.

Same problem here. The spring has made a deep scratch in the underlying plastic. komplett.no is sending me a new cover.

The scratch has apparently given the spring the space it needs , so it's working for the time beeing :-)

The guy at the nokia repair point said it was a known issue. The phone was a week old and I was the first n900 they had to fix. A good chance the back cover was still from a bad batch and I hope they got a new batch of back covers.

ahhh maybe this is the explanation why Nokia, were selling, then doing pre-orders, now selling again.

I had my N900 back cover replaced by a Nokia repair service today. Unfortunately the batch of covers propably is same as of the original.

Does your space key sometimes fail to response and makes extra noice while pressing?

Nothing like that, it works normally except for the camera slider.

But you know the slider is gonna fail again when you open it, and look at it from the side of the charger. If their is a small gap on the left side of the slider between the blue and the black piece it will fail sooner ore later.

I had this problem too. I called the internet shop I bought it from and they said if I could fix it myself for under 35euros I oculd do that and send the invoice to them for a full refund of that. So I bought a spare backcover from http://www.klc.fi/ for 15euros + 7euros shipment. Its out of stock though so I am still waiting for it..

EDIT; btw, Nokia Care didn't care at all about this. They turned me to the shop I bought it from for help.

This isn't a nokia shop but a emergency repair point. And I bought it from nokia so they have to help me.
