the thing i dont like is that if i have mine connected via USB and then search for music on my sd card it doesnt find anything but if i disconnect it then all the music is visible again.

I've just put in my 8 Gig card (I had been using it in my Nokia E90 previously) and initially it did not "see" the card. That's when I came across this post. Put the back cover and N900 will immediately mount the card. Thank you for Tomaszd for your hint.
