I've had the same issue with the default powersave mode. qole, are you able to use max powersaving with that router/firmware without all the disconnects?

The WRT-54GL is solid with all of my Maemo devices, although I confess that the N900 had some SSH-specific lag/disconnect problems in the pre-sales version. The sales firmware has seemed to solve those.

I have had serious connection problems with other routers with my Maemo devices at maximum powersaving.

I still have the same connection issues now with my N900 at maximum powersaving. All my previous Maemo devices were fine at max without a problem.

zerojay: so you're using the WRT-54GL with DD-WRT v24-sp1? And still having disconnection issues?

I'll do some experiments tonight... Maybe I just haven't SSH'ed into my N900 enough since the retail firmware flash.

AMAZING device, but weak a55 GPRS radio.

Did you get a fresh sim card for your N900 yet?

Nope. Will it make a difference for 2G / 2.5G?

My n810 is on maximum power saving and ssh sessions over wifi very rarely freeze.

I was getting frequent freezes on my n900 and today changed to medium power saving. At first, I thought that took care of it, but I still get freezes that last several minutes. Even while I am typing and characters are echoing and even on the charger.

I just go the phone yesterday and this was the first thing I noticed. I'm using at&t (no 3G) and it was unable to hold the internet connection reliably to the point its un-usable. My E71 in the same location has never-ever had any connections issues with Edge or 3G in the same location.

I'm hoping its software and not hardware related...

BTW, I see the option in Settings->Phone->DualMode is disabled when using AT&T. I'm assuming its smart enough not to 'hunt' for 3G when the SIM doesn't support it...
