@ bkmgtpe3
You use Jaadu VNC Connect with Vine Server on your mac.
And you see your desktop on your N900?
Am I missing the point?

If you have an alternative for VNCviewer, please feel free to post a video and show me how it looks

Thanks

Perhaps you know the answer to my next question
Does it work with Windows 7, or doesn´t that make any difference?

I see someone else asked about VNCviewer and Windows 7, i'd like to know that as well but I was a little too late
It dosen't matter if you're running Windows 7. If anything in the remote OS is screwing with the VNC server service, then then that program should show you an error on the Windows PC when you start it up. If there's a network or firewall issue blocking you, then the viewer on the N900 would fail to connect.

If you can launch the server on the PC, and you can connect the viewer on the Nokia, and you still see a black screen can mostly be attributed to lag.

The viewer must draw the entire desktop over the VNC connection unpon initial view. On slow networks, noisey wi-fi channel, or VNC servers that are broadcasting a million colors (you can set it to scale down the colors to conserve bandwidth) it can take a long time to display at first.

Try again and let it sit a bit. You can even try clicking on the black screen on the Nokia viewer and see if there are any corresponding actions on your Windows PC.

I have that problem on vista x64 using tightvnc with dual monitors. it doesn't refresh the screen properly. move the mouse around and it shows what's underneath.

Does x forwarding work on the n900 with a linux machine? that would be ideal.

X forwarding works great. I display back X apps over SSH connections from my Fedora work station all the time.

I can't get VNC to work :-( I've installed VNCViewer on my phone. I then use the free version of RealVNC on my Windows 7 PC.
I know it's connected cause it asks for the password when I try and connect from the phone. However all I get is a black screen on my N900?

Could someone help me please?

Here is maby a solution:
Try ThightVNC. When in Properties, uncheck the "Remove desktop wallpaper" in the "Server" tap, go to the "Hooks" tap, mark the "Poll full screen" and there you go. I have set the cycles down to 100ms.

Hope that works for you

Since i don't have the phone yet a small-ish question.

Is there an option in VNC viewer to just let the entire screen act as a touchpad (no viewing)?
This way i can control my HTPC which i'm in front of anyway.

Thanks guys.
