I have installed Hermes, Conversations widget and OVWeather. Working fine for me so far (Hermes is spotty).

Really hope there is a better RSS reader and Conversations widget that incorporates email soon.

You can click "Downloads" above and click "Popular" or just go here:

http://maemo.org/downloads/downloads/downloads/25

Also, I'd encourage all fair-minded folks to contribute star ratings and reviews to this site.
I don't have the N900 either so it might use the ratings but, unfortunately, the maemo.org download site only allows you to sort on number of downloads or the program update date. Selecting a category on the right defaults to a number of downloads sort.

Maemo.org should really consider putting in an option to sort by ratings and make this option available at both the total catalog and individual category levels.

At the moment, with 68 apps available (if I counted right), it is not that big an issue but let's plan for the future.

I know that the Ovi Store on S60 allows you to both rate and leave comments on applications. Isn't that what we are trying to accomplish here?

If we put this on a wiki it will only be usable/findable by these forum members. We can't assume that every Maemo user will come to and read/scour the forums. The more information that is available on the device directly the better the overall user experience will be, agree?
With the application maanger you can add your own repositories too so how would that work? You'd have to have a standard mechanism etceteras.

You can, but I think the consensus is that it's probably best not to.

The same functionality is already available for example in Ubuntu, for pic see here: http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/...0----jpg-.html

I think it would be the best way to do this.

Am I missing something? There are really not that many apps right now anyways, so no need to be picky to spare space on the device. That is unless people want to go to the test repositories and probably mess their phone up.

There are more apps today than there were a week ago. Hopefully there will be more apps a week from now than there are today. The community should be proactive.

If I were designing a directory system to handle 1000 apps, I would try and implement filters similar to those in the Advanced Search function of Talk. I'd allow you to filter on number of downloads, rating, and category and sort by last update date or number of downloads.

If that's not possible, I'd multiply the rating by the number of downloads and list the top 10.

I have not noticed much change at all since launch. Sopwtih Camel and a few other apps, but not exactly a draw for consumers. As stands, the N900 will not be driven in sales by the apps.

I guess this device truly is for tech geeks and hackers. I was thinking it was more in the middle for geeks and general users, but I do believe I was dead wrong. I wonder if we will actually see Duke Nukem or Quake 3 in the repositories, or with they always be special installs that you have to jump through hoops to install.

BTW, at the current rate, it will be a loooooong time before there are 1,000 apps. That is unless we count backgrounds, themes and other files that may populate the repositories. I prefer quality over quantity, but would prefer some decent choice.

I have a feeling I will not be seeing voice search or Shopsavvy on the N900 for a long time- if ever.

But the Flash and media... it is so pretty.

I guess we all have the device too early! Really the N900 needs to be on carriers and in the big shopes e.g. CFW, Vodaphone, et al. Plus, some ports from the N810 are still in testing. Once it has some marketshare the situation should improve; although, I was disapointed with the app managers like of applications -- especially since 300 units were given out early.

I guess I should work on my 100 different fart apps then?
