Can you elaborate a little?

Is there a setting I can change, or can I bypass it by setting up a specific account for the network?

I'm a bit confused as to why my laptop just connects with no questions asked and the N900 is trying to force me to validate somehow.

Under settings, then connections, you can manually set up a connection yourself instead of doing it once you open a program that ask's you for the connection you'd like to use.

Right, so there is a setting there somewhere that lets me bypass the WPS?

Go to Setting/Internet Connections/Connections/New/Next
Change Connection Name (could be any).
Answer No on "Scan for available Wi-Fi networks?"

AND you can enter any parameters manually.

BUT!!! Look like phone has bug with manually entered connections. If you enter this manually phone didn't automatically switch from 3G to this connection (when "Switch to Wi-Fi when available" checked).

Perfect it works. I hadn't thought to NOT scan for a network, but just entering the network name worked like a charm. Thanks guys.

Got it to work, ended up just changing the security to WPA from WP2 then doing a full reset on the router, and now the WiFi works like a charm ( although kind of slow I do have to admit, especially since I have a 20mb down & 8 up connection )

I couldn't get it to connect to my D-Link 624 router using WPA with AES. I changed it to WPA2 with TKIP and it connected.

It looks like routers with WPS (why are there so many with this rubbish now?) needs to be connected by adding it manually via the control panel (and only _then_ let it search). Trying to search, and then connect, only ends in a useless pop-up about PIN. Even for open networks.

Incidentally, my N800/OS2007 can't connect at all to any WPS router, open or WPA. It doesn't see them 95% of the time, and if it does it can't connect.
