Can you elaborate a little?
Is there a setting I can change, or can I bypass it by setting up a specific account for the network?
I'm a bit confused as to why my laptop just connects with no questions asked and the N900 is trying to force me to validate somehow.

Right, so there is a setting there somewhere that lets me bypass the WPS?

Go to Setting/Internet Connections/Connections/New/Next
Change Connection Name (could be any).
Answer No on "Scan for available Wi-Fi networks?"
AND you can enter any parameters manually.
BUT!!! Look like phone has bug with manually entered connections. If you enter this manually phone didn't automatically switch from 3G to this connection (when "Switch to Wi-Fi when available" checked).
