- Make sure the server uses VNC password auth

- Link the phone, start the viewer. Phone should have an 192.168.somethign IP (You can check from terminal or via installable applet)

- Connect to to the said Vista _Local_ IP and provide password.

If your phone and your router are not on the same side of the router, then you need port forwarding. You need to tell the router to fix your PC IP (e.g., always use 192.168.1.2), then tell it to forward ports 5900 and 5800 from the internet to 192.168.1.2. You need to read the manual, and admin access to the router.

Then the phone links to your internet (exterior) IP, not the 192.168, but the one you get from whatsmyip.org. Note that if your ISP uses NAT to get you Internet, you're cooked.

The guide has nothing to do with VNC and all to do with networking. I suggest you use a PC to debug VNC, then apply settings on phone. Always debug one issue at a time.

THANK YOU....worked like a charm, it was easy to get access under the same network, but didn't know how to use my tmobile 3g to access my computer, but after reading your post, IT WORKS thanks once again!!!

if you are under ur own network (wi-fi) then ur ipaddress (command prompt, and type in ipconfig, u'll get it there) if you are using your tmobile 3g or any other internet then go to "whatsmyip.org" and get the number from there. worked for me.

EDIT: credit goes to NDI for this info.!!!

"VNC Server appears to be behind a NAT router with IP address xx.xxx.xxx.xx. You will need to configure that router to forward port 5900 to this computer before you can connect to VNC Server over the Internet." i got this error when i run a test on vnc viewer on my laptop...

what is this means?

not too sure about NAT router, i have linksys router, and i go to my router settings, and port forward ports 5800, and 5900 for my ip address in my router, and it shud work after that.

P.S, earlier in the thread, somebody mention something about NAT routers, i think it might not work with NAT routers, not sure though!
