Just downloaded the IMDB database. Then I found that you need to go to the main screen, where you can select your collections. Select IMDB, filter by year - say, 2007 to 2011, then you get a list. Now you start typing on the physical keyboard for the name, find a movie, select it, go to the top of the screen and select "Add to Catalog", choose the Catalog and voilá, you have started to populate your own lists...
