Lol I did called up my brother in law to contact the USPS and I did called up the NZ custom, also the NZpost. Did email the USPS but nothing heard. Man if my brother in law stated that the price on the box is 1000USD then I"ll be looking to pay atleast 250NZD on custom.. WTF....

Just to be on the bright side. An USPS Express mail I had to receive arrived to my destination 1 month later. It was around Chrismas too (too much mail during the season). So it will get there eventually, but 72 hours is probably just optimism. Needless to say I didn't use Express mail since 
P.S. Your stated price is an overkill though. I think up to 40 USD is not taxed... probably depending on the country.
