Unsure why you have such trouble
I'll second this. Had no problems browsing Laurens site when I tried it a minute ago on wifi.

There's always apt-get. Though for browsing through the catalogs it would be nice to have something a bit more responsive. And certainly a multipic option.

The Conversations App

Conversations is a great app. The two most irritating things are why is there no Emails support for conversations? (Or Am I doing something wrong). And why did Nokia not finish the IM support for ICQ or MSN, or similar, which you can find in any common chat software. I installed the telephathy-haze extras (which you are not supposed to do) and it seems to work flawlessly.
Erm emails support??? you mean emails IN conversations??? What a horrible thought. I'd like to yank the SMS out of it. As for MSN and ICQ. Well with a jabber account and MSN and ICQ transports one doesn't even notice this things. And as you said a simpleu install of -haze fixed the problem as well.

The Modest Email Client

I like modest, it is minimal and somewhat fast, renders also HTML and I like the compose window. But besides missing smaller features like autocomplete mail addresses input and a spam filter the missing search function is just unjustifiable. How Am I supposed to find anything with huge mail boxes you have nowadays. This feature is so obvious that I really blame people for not having it implemented.
It's called ORGANIZING, ARCHIVING and similar, though sadly the client is sub-par in so many ways I'm just waiting for a pick your default mail client app so I can switch to alpine already.

The MircoB Browser

Even though I am somewhat impressed, that browsing is similar to a normal computer and even goes beyond that with the "panorama" history it is far from being a nice experience. It starts from zooming using pitching which moves the web page around, goes over a missing back button (swipe?) and ends with flash sites, which totally kill your system.
--snip--
Another disappointing thing is the missing support for good plug-ins like weave. Before I bought the N900 I saw the Fennec Video with Weave plugin which I think is really really cool. But now, having the N900, it makes you realize it was more show than working. MicroB does not support Weave and the Fennec Beta 5 is even slower than anything else. Essential more work has to be done here.
Hmmm removed flash as I really have no need for it so never expect to be hit by this. I'm actually impressed by how good a browser microb is. No comment on weave and other such useless junk. browser is for reading text and maybe an occasional pic... not for $EVERYTHING_UNDER_THE_SUN_AND_THEN_SOME

[*] The whole system hangs sporadically / slows down
Never had this happen
[*] WPA max key length field of 64 digits, whereas one need 65
Hmmm haven't tried this.
[*] The MfE 2003 debacle
Hmm another useless part therefor removed.
[*] No button for manually setting up a WiFi with the router in automatic setup mode, whereas the "Press button on router to connect..." message is in most cases totally useless, as there is no access to the device and should not be default
Erm??? I don't get this at all.

Ovi maps - removed, ovi store erm... why even care with all the Free Software around.

Have you increased the web browser's memory? I haven't had flash issues myself but that may be because I increased the memory given to microb in its settings.

But I agree with the TC about Ovi Maps and the Ovi store.

I am aware of using apt-get but I am also considering non-Linux user as N900 owner.

This is a personal preference, if you don't like the conversations thing at all one could simply have a setting for this, where you can set which communication apps use it, like Email, SMS / MMS, IM.

osflight can you not understand your reasoning is flawed..

you could have quite easily got a refund on your purchase and bought a new one

or kept the one you have got, updated when the fw comes and not taken the loss you are gonna make from selling one now..

if you are that rich to throw away money- why do you even need to sell it??

its ridiculas

No one questions that things will get better over time.

No one understands why you would sell/re-buy?Just keep it, use it, and apply the updates as they happen.
