But you said it was a missing feature in pop3 handling:

on n900 pop3 deleted emails does not get deleted from the server. we don't have this fundemental option! you can untick leave messages on the server setting but then you won't be able to download them from pc.
What I'm saying is what you are asking for - deleting pop3 email from the server when you delete them on the phone - or on a pc for that matter - is not a missing feature, it's not possible. With any email client.

asidana, what crashdamage is saying is true. POP3 can only remove emails from the server when you download them. I am not sure what client you are using. Outlook Express for example doesn't do it. It is not possible since the POP3 protocol does not have a command to delete single messages from the server AFAIK

try thunderbird. try nokia email client or profimail on s60 business models.
you can set all to leave messages on the server and when you delete emails from the phone they get deleted from the server too

outlook also has an option where it removes messages from server when you permenantly delete them. see account>advanced > delivery

In Microsoft Office you can delete message on server when you delete it from Office

@asidana, mikhmv

I completely agree that this would be a useful feature, but as mentioned before -- I'm pretty sure it's a limitation of the POP protocol.

I am involved with QMF and would love to bring this feature if it's indeed possible/practical. However, none of my searches for such abilities in POP has been fruitful, so if you could provide me some information or a link, it'd be appreciated.

You mentioned thunderbird can do it. Are you sure that it's actually pushing/pulling these status changes from the server and not just locally keeping track of it? And are you sure you're only using POP? If you could confirm that it actually does so, I'll take a look at it and get back to you with my findings.

Thanks,
Eric
