The 800 screen does not have the same graininess as the 770. I don't think this is a problem with the 770's display at all - its the touchscreen overlay. The 800's screen is also much brighter. The whites are actually.. white. There is no comparison (I have the two on my desk side by side here).

I 100% agree about the buttons on the N800. I found the 770 much easier to use in that regard (I use the + and - buttons to turn pages in FBreader, and I keep switching between windowed and fullscreen without meaning to). They're too small and too close together, and I don't have giant hands by any means.

I will say I preferred my 770 for reading (accursed WSOD).

And I, too, have the dimming effect at the right hand side of my n800 screen - good to know it isn't just mine.
