Do you use Win XP or other windows? Map loader does not detect my N900 neither in PCSuite mode nor in mass storage mode.

I asked for a "official" method because the maps downloaded are more recent than the ones in the "direct way" method. Indeed, I have version 00.01.22.103 installed using the direct download method, but I'd like to have the latest ( 23.112 or whatever).

I'm using 32-bit XP and Nokia Map Loader v3.0.28.0, with the N900 in mass storage mode.

Why do you want to have maps loaded? Doesn't the N900 already come with Ovi Maps already installed? Or am I missing something here?

The N900 comes with a set of regional maps preinstalled. There's a number of reasons you'd want to (re)install maps:
  • You've flashed the eMMC - the image doesn't include any maps
  • You're travelling and need the maps for another country
  • You want updated maps
