wow... maybe this problem is solved with just a few clicks or on line in x-term (and it's too easy for me to see it ^^) or you're having a veeeery big problem out of nothing (?!) and must reflash your device.
(as long as you can make a backup this is nothing serious )

edit: just for having a look at the reflash topic -> http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware

The only thing I would like to keep after reflash is call time log? I would love to keep that after reflash. Is there any way to keep how many hours I spent talking?

mhm... the communication can be saved... but if the call timer is included... mhm... i don't know ^^
(didn't take a look at that when i was updating my phone via nsu ^^)

edit: ok... i looked at my personal overview page at my provider's webpage... and it states that i talked 9 minutes this month... but my phone tells me that i talked 14 mins... and because the update was this month i can tell you that the timer is included in the backup

Had this issue too.. noticed it this morning.

Removing the extra decoders fixed it.

having exactly the same problem on my N900 too: media player does not play anything any more

tried all suggestions mentioned in this thread without any success.

i also have panucci and mediabox installed, and these seem to work just fine (i installed mediabox after built-in media player stopped working)

what i have noticed:
in mediabox there is a setting "Select Media Renderer" (under the status bar menu, _not_ in the app's 'shelf' settings section), and when this is set to "Local" (the only option there) then even mediabox stops playing anything (until the app is restarted)!
maybe this can give one of the gurus here an idea about where to look for a fix...

gonna give it a couple more days before reflashing in case someone comes up with another solution...
