Tested on n810 and e51 in voip mode with bt headset.
I noticed this when streaming music over bluetooth from the N810 to my laptop. I was blaming Lenovo's bluetooth stack all this time, too

Basically, what it sounds like is that the N810 is almost entirely unusable as a mobile VoIP phone. The only solution that is even remotely workable is to have a wired headset using a three-wire plug, and to call this a 'solution' except in the broadest sense is completely laughable.

Fortunately, the place I bought my N810 from has a generous return policy

My N810 actually came with a wired microphone/earphone set. It'd actually be quite usable except the earphones don't fit in my small ears.

Nathanb, it seems like just about any featurephone with winmo may work for you. Just get the phone and dont get a phone plan. Then, you can install a google voice client and possibly buy some pay as you go minutes for when you're not around wifi.

I'm mostly looking for something I can use on the go. Having to untangle the headphones in my pocket and put them in pretty much defeats the purpose.

I refuse to buy a closed mobile device. It doesn't have to be completely open--I know that Maemo uses proprietary drivers--but something like Android or Maemo or Symbian is much preferable to something like Windows Mobile or the iPhone OS.
