Mine's direct from Nokia. I updated to the latest firmware.

It's not just while surfing the net, I'm also connected most of the time as I have push mail set up through Nokia Messaging, plus Google Calendar Sync through Sync ML, Google Messenger, weather forcasts updating, etc.

I live just outside Edinburgh, Scotland (North of Watford!) and my Vodafone signal is pretty good (quite often get 3.5g in city centre).

It seems to depends on who has better coverage in the area and how busy the connection is.

The funny thing is where I live Vodafone seem to have better coverage. I used to be with O2 and could never get a 3g signal.

I'm surprised you have trouble with the signal in London - must be those iRate iPhone users downloading iFart applications.

"Hey check out my shiney iPhone - it farts in 10 different languages"

North of Watford? I thought it was all just dragons and dinosaurs up there.

Maybe it really is just that most Southerners are less discerning in their tastes, meaning more iPhone users down here clogging up the airwaves?

I'm using Vodafone in Liverpool and have the same problem - It takes about three attempts to make a call if a 3G connection is active. Will this affect incoming calls?

my Voda is superb in and around Swindon Wilts, but my three sim is just not as reliable and the load speed is significantly slower than Voda here.
