for the record i have 3 different magnetic pouches and all of them cause this problem no matter which way around i put the phone. it is less if the back of the phone is presented to the magnet but still there.

take your phone and wipe along the back a bit with y,the case flap. evenrually the screen will unlock. then all that is needed is t,for the case to keep pressing on the screen ans it never switches off.

since the new noreve i am good. unplugged this morning and it is now 3pm and battery is like 80%. i also have re-enabled the 3G,the max power wireless and all others. only i still have the smartflex enabled.

Can someone please guide me to how do I change the network (GSM/UMTS/...) types. I searched almost the entire device and couldn't find it.

Also, how do I change the power level in wifi?

To change wi fi power go into the settings menu then
"Internet connections"
Click on "Connections"
choose any connection regardless of the connection you are using
click "edit"
click "next"
click "next" again
click "next" again
now click "Advanced"
then choose the "Other tab"
Here you can set transmission power down to 10mW and also enable levels of Power saving.

This changes the power setting for ALL wi fi connections

Select you options and click "Save" followed by "Finish" and the "Done"

To change 2G or 3G I downloaded and used the excellent 3G / 2G selection mode app
I also use the simple brightness app, which I think is from the same people and very useful also.

Or you could just use the built in functionality...

Go to Settings, choose Phone. Scroll down and under Network you should see Nwtwork Mode. Change this from Dual to GSM.

Was it actually charging? Unless the wall charger shorts out the data lines, the N900 won't charge with it.

Further more, I find that using one and the same computer cable, I can first get the message not charging - insufficient power, pull it out, put it back in, and then it'll charge. The N900 is picky and moody. You should always double check if it's actually charging. For a standard solution, microUSB appears to be rather unstandardy, here.

I tried that my pouch which has a magnet... yes, it switched on the screen, I did need to move the magnet around to find a good position to trigger that, but it did happen easily either have LCD side facing the magnet or the back

and I tried that on the Motorola Droid, the same thing happened if I have the manget at the back, but not on the LCD side
