You might want to reconsider changing your user agent. By changing to another browser, you are contributing to their developer mind share. Maemo doesn't even get mentioned in the latest Mobile Metrics Report. Is this because our numbers are too small? Or is it because lots of users are saying their an iPhone?

See this write up.

Every time you find a web site that works in the Maemo browser but needs a fake user agent, take a minute to email the web site developer. That's the only way they'll know you exist. Changing the user agent is just a band aid and probably hurts the platform.

Download "Hide User Agent" from Extras-Devel (Usual warning applies!)

Launch the app from the settings menu and click "User Agent." Use the following setting:

Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; fr-fr) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16

When you want to switch back to MicroB, just click on "remove" within the "Hide User Agent" app.

I tried this to use the web-based Google Voice app for the iPhone. It sort of worked- but the formatting was all messed up-- although I could dial out and my google voice # showed up in their caller id. Not pretty, though.

thank you rentboy very much, now I am able to access my company VPN which uses FirePass VPN access http://www.f5.com/products/firepass/.
