"Operation failed".....that's wat came up when i tried taking some pics about 15mins after i took the first set of pics and a video.....since then it kept saying "operation failed" and the after the first 2 reboots it wouldn't display the pic and would say "display not avialable" or something similar.....the video was basicallly non existant......then i followed the advice of check disc, scan and fix....did that for both nokia n900 and SD card.....but is there anyway of getting those photos taken before the "operation failed".....those were b'day pics of my sis :'(

did that fix ur problem, because it didnt fix mine. I wish there was a way to hard reset to factory default but i guess there isnt. Im going to call nokia tommorow and see wat they say. Also off topic but recently i tried locking my phonee and it tells me to enter a password as if there is already one however i never set up a password come to think of it wen i first rbought the device the time and everyhting was already set so does this meen i might have gotten a used device it looked brand new when i got it I ordered from nokia usa website. Also pertaining to the camera problem i tried to restore defaults but it asks for a password as well being that i havent set up any passwords is there a default password

"hard-reset":

^^

but it's strange that it didn't fix it for you.
that's clearly a filesystem problem and the check should have fixed it.
maybe you should try an other OS.
