Despite being the first to tell others to do that, I had of course not done it myself. Duh.

And indeed the md5sum is wrong, whilst the original one is correct.

I did download several times from 2 pcs, so perhaps some form of caching/file hosting issue, but regardless good spot. Must remember to check that next time!

On the bright side I've learnt about the flash process so more prepared for next time,
