thnks for all yr patience, almost there, downloaded gpe contact, ran libginokii and than installed phone link all went fine, now stuck at the gnkii file as when i click on it it just opens up as a doc. trying to figure what to do with it, seems almost home.

still strugling with this install, wish there was an install build, as wud not lik to go n to root and play around when new to this.

Instructions on how to install for the 770. Gives details for modifying the gnkii file. Haven't done it yet. Hope it helps.

There is no need to get root access to copy and/or modify .gnokiirc in /home/user
You only need xterm

okay, manage to install GPE Contact, libgnokii and phone link.
also can download gnoki to my pc, but now how do i transfer or place gnoki in the usr/lib destination, even after that how can one edit that file, am stuck at that stage,
as said am a newbie so learning a lot, so please be patient, thanks

3) what is the command in Xterm to copy to home usr after edit,

ok found nokii file,

now back to ques how do i
1) edit gnokii on tablet
and than command o place in home/usr using XTerm

managed to get .gnokiirc, is it suppose to reside in home/usr? did edit the file and gave it .gnokiirc.
when i start phonelink it says config file could not be read.
any suggestions. am learning linux commands fast

yes it is supposed to be located in /home/user/ directory
the name of the file should be ".gnokiirc"
