2) You'd need to emulate two processors, not just one. I don't know if you could just provide a wrapper to run all the code on the same processor.

3) The N900 really isn't all that suited to DS Emulation - I can't imagine a sensible way to fit both displays on the screen in portrait mode, for example.

4) Finally: this is the free software world. If you want something, do it I'm not having a dig here, but if you want something done you still need to do it or pay for it. If other people were interested they'd already have a project going.

That last bit isn't negative either - there's loads of resources online. Why not hack something together and see how it goes?
as we know, n900's resolution is 800*480 which is much bigger than NDS, so i guess we can use the "left" screen and the "right" screen of n900. left is upper, right is bottom, is this a good idea?

I believe the N900 can absolutely emulate the DS/i. Stylus + portrait mode + camera + ARM processor. Its just a question of who's willing to dev it.

The only bummer will be the relatively small two windows in portrait mode..
Oh well.

I'd have a PSX emulator any day

It's a very good idea...Although not easy to develop.

But the idea is the first step.

Perhaps in next gen Maemo/Meego device it would be possible.

How are emulators developed anyway? I guess that's a question for Zod..

well, a mac can run windows, so why shouldnt a pc be able to run mac os?

anyway, technically, the n900 definitely can run ds-games (judging from the raw hardware-power, that is)
its more on psp-level than on ds-level.

and with 1 screen having a resolution of 256*192 pixels, you could even show both screens on the n900 display with one of them being touch-sensitive.
with the keyboard you could even map the ds-buttons. although in landscape-mode you couldnt have the screens on top of each other but next to each other.
