my n82 with xenon flash produced fantastic results, far superior to my 900 or n85,i think without the xenon you will never achieve the such a result

you can tweak and tweak all week till you cant speak and your n900 photos will stil be weak!!!!
this camera is trash and nokia wont lift a finger to change it cause it would be too expensive to come up with some kinda hardware change for every one who brought one

I find N900 photos to be pretty good. Of course compared to a real camera they are not that good, but they are on par with consumer point and shoot compact cameras.

Here is one photo of my old scooter that I took just the other day:

The photo is overall pleasant even though the lighting was very challenging. The camera correctly exposed the subject while blowing out the well lit highlight to the right (the Yamaha sign). The obvious defect is pixel binning and resulting flat feel to the image. However this is pretty usual with most dedicated compact cameras so I am not too concerned since I personally do not distinguish between which one is less bad. If I want a good photo I use a DSLR or a larger format digital camera (eg. my old but still awesome Fuji 6500).

The best aspect of the N900 camera performance is very good exposure consistency and choices it makes. Focus is pretty spot on most of the time, even when the subject is very dark.
