I too would love to have a working OTR for use with Pidgin. The current version isn't compatible with what all of my contacts and I run.

Damn, I'll add my name to the list of well wishers to anyone that takes a dig at making it work but if no one else has the time to look at it I might even try myself. I don't have much coding experience though so it will be a learning experience for me.

Has anyone tried installing pidgin-otr on debian, then shifting it over to maemo's pidgin? It's far fetched, but it might just work

Having the same error message here...

Invalid length.. .

Really making me crazy since it was working perfect before the
pidgin-otr plugin update

Anyone has a fix or could someone please recompile it for Maemo?

Hello !

Apperently, a solution for the "length"-error was found:

The authentication-problem can be worked around by a combination of "Question-Answer" and "Fingerprint"-method.

On N900, authenticate with "Q&A"-method. When the dialog appears, just choose the method, and blindly type the "Question". The "Answer" will be blank.

On the remote side, leaving the "Answer" blank, authenticate.

In addition, I needed to verify the fingerprints on the remote side with the fingerprint-method.

cheers,
julian

Hey jag9624,

I hope this is a solution, but I don't see authenticate with Q&A method anywhere on maemo's pidgin-otr (but I've used it on desktop installations of pidgin-otr before)... Can you clarify how to do this?

Thanks.

Thanks Jag!

That link worked for me, I got my otr working again. Or at least no more annoy encryption errors popping up.

Anyone have any thoughts on if there are any potential downsides to downgrading libgrypt?

I assume that, should future libgcrypt fix the otr issues, that simply backing out the changes to /etc/apt/preferences would allow libgcrypt to update.

What about using OTR with the builtin messaging prog?
