2 days is not so bad. the n900 has a powerful processor, and more advanced apps, the greater the features and functionality, the more power hungry.

Hell yeah, I can reassure you that I can find you a netbook that last more than 9hours

The netbook i'm working on can last upto 11hours man. Don't ever underestimate the power of netbook man. It came with extended battery standard package

Nokia reckons you get 6.3 hours talk and 11 days standby.

but I find if I use my device intensely I get about 5 hrs most days I get through 14 - 16 hours with light to moderate use.

All in all I think the problem is the user, when they get the phone they push it, install stuff and test out skype and flash video and install more stuff and watch videos and test there media servers and wright scripts in terminal and.... and then the battery dies, but if you were board with it the day you got it you wouldn't wast any battery life you may even get 2 days standby.

Hell if you just used it like a phone and terned off every function the device has you may get the advertised 11.5 days of use between charges.
I got about the same as you man. 14-15hours with average standard usage with no phone calls and just a bit of browsing and sms.
