I wonder if I should bother, judging by the few votes so far this seems a really terrible solution to the hoax/spam threads problem. What puzzles me is that some very respectable community members have down-voted it, which makes me think I am missing something...

This seems to be a common issue in many forums that I frequent... usually they just put a simpler measure of control: a minimum number of posts before the user is permitted to start a new thread.

Well, nevermind...
I should have been thinking as a troll to realize the flaw in my idea... In a nutshell: register two accounts in TMO. Make the necessary number of (void) posts with one. Thank them all with the other. Start opening threads.
