I actually wish the phone would turn this direction.

That way when in phone portrait mode, the power cable would come out the bottom of the device and the headphone jack would be at the top of the device.

This is the cable/orientation layout of pretty much every phone ever made (at least the power plug being at the bottom anyway), and a huge oversight in the N900's industrial design.

Don't believe me? Try talking on the N900 while it's plugged into an AC adapter. Makes me feel like a tool every time...

But then you wouldn't be able to talk at all. Then again, if you've got the AC cable plugged in, it only makes sense that you would have the headphones nearby.

If only forced rotation worked as well as it did on the N8x0s.

By the way, could a Moderator move this to off-topic if necessary?

Why is that? You've never talked on a cell phone while it's plugged into an AC adapter or car charger?

Considering the power drain my N900 goes through on a typical day, I CERTAINLY plug it in every chance I get and would rather not unplug it every time to answer a call...

You think YOU feel like a tool?

Try doing it when your charging cable is pink.
