I tried apt-get install, but system asks password. I am told I need root access for this. Have not tried that (root access yet). But for now, I may not need it as Canola is installed. But no Last.fm yet
I had reformatted my internal memory earlier in the evening through the USB method.
Now I just hope I can get Last.fm working!!
Thanks for all your reponses!

No last.fm? OK.
But you use Vagalume, then help me out here please
I just installed vagalume, logged into last.fm, when I open it and click play I see message: No more content to play. What's all that about?
When I click on Vagalume --> Menu --> Play Radio --> Music tagged, I see message: Invalid radio URL. Either this radio doesn't exit or it is only available for last.fm subscribers. I get the same message for other options like play artist etc...Any ideas?
Thanks again.

I'll try that one, does it have any name, or is it just called Media player?

2) Is there anything in this wiki page that sounds like you are missing/doing wrong: http://wiki.maemo.org/Installing_applications
3) Have you tried downloading the .deb and installing it from terminal? (Or just through apt-get install (which doesn't require the .deb to be local).
4) After an install fails can you see (and post here) the log file for it?
(Menu -> Tools -> Log)
5) Are you able to write to (or delete files from) your internal memory card or is it in read-only mode? (I've had that happen myself once or twice but there are fixes for that).
And no, you didn't buy an expensive Skype phone - assuming there is nothing h/w related wrong with your N810 (which I doubt) most anything can be fixed.
