My own expectation is that we'll get some sort of MeeGo release, but, as you might see with the wait for firmware 1.2 here in the West, it's best to try and enjoy your n900 as is and not hope too much for the future.

I certainly agree what you say about the iPhone in Shanghai, on my recent trip there I heard many times "Pssst... you want dvd, watch, iphone?" lol But Im not so sure they are all legitimate Apple products
Yeah. I am kind of agree with you now.

If N900 can support Meego in the future, why don't NOKIA announce it now ?

There will be no harm for the following Meego device, such as N920, because N920 will have better hardware performance.

The probabely result is that N900 cannot ugrade to Meego official, and since the sales in Taiwan and Hong Kong or other areas had just began, the news that Maemo will be the final OS for N900 will shock the sales.

I think that is the reason why NOKIA keep slient now.

Anyone have the same opinion ?

@lanwellon
did you at least read the wiki entry I've posted on the first page?
meego is coming to our N900s. Nokia does not have power over this decision because meego is a project of the Linux Foundation. Only the main contributors are Nokia and Intel.
The question is, if Nokia will provide THEIR version (UI) of meego, with THEIR apps (Ovi Maps for example).

Also the picture you've posted is fake. just scan the QR code and you'll see why.

Not to mention Qgil (who works for Nokia) has said they are making sure the hardware in the N900 is functional for Meego since Nokia intends to use the N900 as a developmental platform.

Now whether that means ALL functionality such as IR or FM transmitter works we don't know. At the bare mininum I would assume any similar hardware features that the N900 shares in common with its successor such as CPU, GPU, GPS, bluetooth, etc will be supported in Meego.

Now this does not mean official support! For example, as I like to put it. It's entirely possible there will be no Ovi Maps, no email client, etc. We may not have a GUI that even resembles what Nokia is building. If we can expect anything, it'll be a barebones build with fuctioning hardware but nothing else.

I thimk that's why Nokia has been saying some may want to stay with Maemo, some may want to switch to Meego, and some will want to dual boot.

Im desperate for Meego to be a runaway success as Im begining to get annoyed by the lack of support for the n900..
I still think that I have the best phone full stop, but it is a niche product and the amount of websites I go to where they have a phone app for download, but only for symbian, apple, android, palm or blackberry!!
If Meego finally gives a unified base for devs and people start building apps for it on the scale that they do for android or apple it will be heaven, as Nokia phones just feel better built to me..

this is not a complaint against the n900 - I still love it, just a minor annoyance over the lack of support out there in the wild so to speak...

Future Device - the Nokia N666. Runs Meego 3.5

Requires no display or keyboard. The devices simply runs hooks on chains into your brain allowing direct manipulation. Rumor has it you can buy the Chinese knockoff out of Guandong for $127.50 USD in lots of ten or more FOB. The knockoff lacks 3G and has a 1.3 megapixel camera.
