My favorite is the alternate kernels that make overclocking etc easier.

I think each application is counted only once, not once per version.
Also, if you want to guess the number of users, it's the downloads you have to count, not the number of applications.

I'm not sure you understood what I am talking about here.
Take for instance Ncalc. An update just came out a day or so ago. As soon as an update comes out, the apps count increments from 279 to 280, for example. I KNOW that it does that. If an app comes out with 10 updates, it counts as 10 in the incremental DL's available number.
Nobody else has noticed this?
That has always seemed screwy to me...

no it doesn't do that. Look through extras, you won't find multiple versions of ncalc.

Exactly, each version is an upgrade.
Like version 1.00 then 1.01 then 1.02
That counts as 3 different appz, get it.
I've been observing this with the weather appz, etc.
There are not 280 "unique" appz, even though the number shows 280 as of today.
It went from 279 to 280 today with the "latest" ncalc. Which if you look is called Ncalc upgrade.
Think how many OMWeather theme upgrades and versions there have been!
