you need to put a blank space between /system/osso/dsm/locks/devicelock_autolock_timeout and 600

Run this command: gconftool-2 -s --type int /system/osso/dsm/locks/devicelock_autolock_timeout 600

You typed dsml instead dsm.

That's because you're now using the code to read the setting, rather than write it.
Read my original post more carefully.

oh i give up did it properly and it gave me no errors but doesnt show as a new time option in device lock

The above commands aren't intended to add new values to the GUI; they set the value directly in your device's configuration, and will persist until you change to a different value using the GUI.

so how do i select the 600 min option?

Entering the above command 'selects' it, overriding any previous selection you made via the GUI.
