Cue "the thrill is gone" by B.B. King?

I still am excited by new aspects of overclocking, and they are actually adding java, and I expect many more interesting developments after PR1.2 hits.

I think Nokia killed the enthusiasm by pushing forward Qt as the sensible framework to program in on the N900 (and upcoming Meego) and yet, there is no easy way to deploy and use these apps before 1.2 is released. We are in app limbo and that's something you can pin on Nokia. I sometimes wonder if they are afraid the N900 might become too popular, if they give it too much support. They can't afford to steal the Symbian thunder from N8 and other devices.

To answer your question: I think Nokia choked the excitement to death. Shame on them if they could've released 1.2 earlier and chose not to. =(

It was killed, killed by not only those who would over aggressively attack any post not praising n900. But also Nokia who's action or lack their of, gave credibility to the questions which were being assualted here in attempts of silencing what was percieved as or at least reacted to as "personal attacks on the n900"

So, when Nokia fell short in their handling of the N900 week after week, it became hard to defend when they themselves are becoming dissatisfied with the limits, faults and slow and limited info from nokia.

I would also wager that the agressive/cold tone in the forums scared off both those excited with limited experience and those with plenty to offer but failed to find the cozy productive community. all of which left for greener pastures. Noone to ask basic questions means == no one to ***** out.

all of which has the consequence of the n900 being or becoming a failure and being the last of it's kind. Unless nokia really starts pushing the phone hard, we are in the n900's last days.

My bet is on Nokia introducing a new phone with souped up specs and fixing the software then claim because of the hardware difference the n900 is unsupported.

Lol just like they ditched N97 and then said Sumbian^3 will be flawless as they learnt lessons from N97

Now they're learning lessons from N900 as you can see most of the essential features like Ovi Maps, Auto rotation etc slated for Harmattan/Meego and not Maemo 5

I do not think everything has been tried out that is possible for the hardware. Interesting device but the OVI-store and support from Nokia suck. Except for Angry Birds
What is "Rec-focus-widget". Is it similar to lfocus. lfocus, by the way, is an app that you will probably never see in any other smart phone. In fact, I wonder if there will ever be a device which allows that much freedom to hack as the N900. I am seriously considering buying one or two spare N900s for the future. The N900 is all I personally would want in a device. It has the important parts covered for me. What is missing is fluff that I could live happily without. But, as AtteK0, I find some of the apps available on the N900 amazing and indispensable. The day I can find things like EasyDebian, lfocus, FM-booster, etc., on another device, is the day I will admit that the N900 is not the top of the heap.
