Any difference between el.db and el-v1.db. Which one includes the new
and which the old messages?

No obvious differences - both files are the same size, and both have the same last few events in them (both only have events from before the upgrade)

They're not quite the same files though - md5s differ on them

Ah ha! Thanks for the tip about el.db being the old one, and el-v1.db being the new one

I took a backup of ~/.rtcomm-eventlogger/, and then deleted the el-v1.db + journal files. I then rebooted. After the reboot, the conversations app took a long time to start. However, when it had come up, all my old SMSs were there!

I've sent a new test sms, and that's come in too

Seems I've lost a couple of messages that came in post-upgrade, pre el-v1.db delete, but at least the rest is back. Also, the el-v1.db file is now a different size, which seems to indicate that the upgrade has worked this time

Hi,

Can you give me a play by play of how you did the backup of ~/.rtcomm-eventlogger/, and then deleted the el-v1.db + journal files.

I am new to this system and not very technically minded. Cheers

I did:
Code:
control+shift+x (launch terminal)

cd ~/.rtcomm-eventlogger/
tar zcvf event-backup.tar.gz el*
rm el-v1.db el-v1.db-journal
exit

(reboot phone)

I tried to follow this but unfortunately I do not have el*. It says no such file or directory and cannot remove el-vl.db as it doesnt exist either.

I did not do any back up on this phone at all before I did the upgrade.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you're suffering a different problem to the one I had then

Might be worth posting the output of "ls -l" in your ~/.rtcomm-eventlogger/ directory, in case someone else can spot something there.

However, I'd have thought that as long as you have the original el.db file from before the upgrade, then a reboot should have the new style el-v1.db file created for you?

Do you also have a problem with call logs. I have No recent calls where should be a list of all incoming and outgoing calls. Do you know if I need to switch on any specific logging for SMS and Calls.

Thanks
