I'm going to sound ultra stupid nowbut how do I find the firmware and attempt to update it... I can't find it in the app manager... i've searched in the 'all' category for anything maemo related and it's not come up. God I feel a bit thick...
oh and i've got the maemo.org and maemo.org extras catalogues enabled... along with nokia system software updates and ovi?

It should just show up as "Maemo 5" as I recall, and should show up under "Update" in App Manager. You can check what version you have installed by looking at the Version string in Settings/About product, or use the excellent Healthcheck app which will give you both the version number and the PR number.

Hey,
Thanks for all your replys but i'm even more confussed.. did say i was a totall Neewbie!
1) how do you put in the text in x terminal if i type root then enter for a new line i get error.
