I never had this issue with PR1.2 so I am guessing that there is something not quite right with the update, but what!!!

It is all good and well using the killall function although this is not so practical if you have your phone in your pocket and have not realised that it has frozen as you don't receive text messages whilst the handset is in this state!!
Look at your other post about the same thing.

Also, don't double post, you just confused the hell out of me, I thought I had replied to the wrong topic when I saw this.

I've had only my music player widget stop functioning. But after reinstalling it or rebooking the N900, it's back to normal. So far all other icons no issue.

i experienced the same (pr1.3), occasionally

i thought it was webcamviewer application causing it as i had just installed that, perhaps that's not so then

more than this failure: when it happens no one can call me (they hear message that i must have shut off or sth), ALTHO 2G (or 3G) shows a distinct signal (AND: when you change signal you get "not available")

weird problem, all icons won't work, only the icon with which you return to desktops. programs can be opened flawlessly in program menu

Hi,

I decided to re-install PR1.3 from scratch in addition to the apps, this gave me the benefit of discarding a number of apps which I no longer utilise.

Unfortunately, this problem is still very much here and yes, using killall hildon-home resolves the issue temporarily, it comes back within a few hours. Although this may not seem like too much hassle to use the killall command, things such as texts and alarm clock will not work when the handset freezes, this is not much good when it locks up overnight

Is this a known issue and is there anyone who knows how to fix it please?

This might not help but when I disabled "vibrate touch" function my icons worked again with the first touch.
Just my 2 cents..

It's Saturday so cheers!

Hi,

I have taken on board all of the suggestions which have been very helpful, thank-you very much to everyone who takes the time to offer support.

The problem however would not go away and every 2-3 hours the handset widgetswould freeze; so yesterday, after a busy day at work, I got home and thought, enough is enough! I re-flashed the handset once again, this time, another clean install without any back-ups restored, I then made a decision to use only the standard repositories (well, only bluemaemo and alarmed from extras - testing ) and would you know, Bobs your Mothers Brother, here we are, 26 hours since last reboot and 0 crashes!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Fantastico!! The moral of this story is, be careful what you download from the extra repos! To be honest, I only really use a few apps from the other repos so it doesn't matter a great deal to me, and now I have a fully functional handset which is very quick thanks to PR1.3 and the enhanced linux kernel power 42.

I have contemplated a couple of times to install preenv again but may just wait a little longer.

I will try this solution, if a don't come back is because it worked.

Thanks!
