If you look at your previous post regarding this i commented then and still say the same thing.

Incidently if you want it fixed properly cos even the repaired/replacement units go the same way then solder it yourself it will work a hell of a lot longer for sure even if you do make a ballsup of it than a replacement from the maker lol.

This is the type of information Nokia customer service should be sending out. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot to see if that fixes things.

The problem is one that isn't a major deal, just an annoyance. Otherwise, I would have reinstalled Maemo and started over a long time ago.

Even if this community can and will answer many of the questions end-users have with the N900, it is not its job. It is Nokia job to troubleshot end-users. He did the right thing trying to get it solved with Nokia first.

Case you haven't noticed, this forum is the free unpaid nokia customer support.

So far I'm completely fed up with them. There is no communication and no way to do it, only vague rumors...

So far both android and iPhone have it far better. every previous device gets updated!

Do we get meego? no.
Do we get flash 10.1? who knows a backport perhaps...

Have you installed ANYTHING outside maemo extras and Nokia repositories?

You know what really scares me and more often I start to think I wont buy another Nokia device?
When N9 or whatever its called is released with MeGoo 1.0 I highly doubt it will get an update to MeeGo 1.1 , 1.2 etc
Probably they will release a new phone like they always did with Symbian phones!

and yes Nokia's North American customer service SUCKS

My first reaction to any trouble with the N900 is to hit up "Power Search" at these forums.

9 out of 10 times someone's ran into my problem before me and I get at least some pointers as to what might be going on.

Also, I don't know if its me living in Finland, but I have a Nokia Care Point somewhat near by (about 40mins away), and they're always more than happy to have a look at my device. I've always been very satisfied with the quality of their service (taking it in and the way they've repaired my phones).

I think in the world we live in it's the consumer that needs to take a very active attitude in just about everything and anything. If I had been in your shoes, I would've searched the forums and spoken to someone at my Care Point about the problem. I couldn't go 4months with something on my mind about my N900.

Hope it all ends well for you never the less!

EDIT: Oh, and because your problem sounds like a software problem, then I think there's even less people that know how to help you out at Nokia. Break a physical component and they know what to do. Helps to think about the N900 as only a "semi-official product" of Nokia.

>saying I would be contacted in up to 48hrs.

Since I bought my N900 I have had two occassions when I needed to contact Nokia Support. On both occassions I used the email support contact address. On both occassions I got the autmated response referring to being contacted within 48 hours, and on both occassions I heard absolutely nothing else at all. Ever.
