Note that "optimized" is a very generic word, but usually it is applied to a combination of a software + a compler + a platform, and you're changing the platform. Any optimization will be useless; for example, the N900 doesn't have OSS.
When GP2X applications do dirty tricks to the OSS device in order to gain "a few cycles", the only thing this causes in the N900 is either crash the pulseaudio converter or make it difficult to "port it" and connect to pulseaudio.

Seriously, the earlier we can get rid of all the gp2x interfaces for more standarized ones the better, specially now that "the way you clear the framebuffer" is not going to make a difference in performance.

I'm a little confused by the term OSS. Doesn't that stand for Open Source Software? Isn't maemo just that? (excuse my ignorance)
In any case, so with all things considered, what are the chances of this being ported over and working nicely?

Open Sound System

Let's hope it gets ported on the N900 soon enough.

Don't really see the problem here. So GINGE will not run on the N900? Bad luck. Or it works but some programs will not start at all? What a bummer. But again, where's the problem?
When GP2x software in general is not good enough for the N900 then we forget this and better wait until every open source program in the GP2x software archive is ported regularly. I'm personally feeling perfect fine with this decision, in the meantime I use my Gp2x and Wiz to use some of this IMHO great software.
BTW. I'm no dev at all but I doubt every optimization will be useless, but of course you're the Maemo experts...

ginge for n900 would be pretty awesome cause the newest pandora version supports even wiz binaries that means maybe franxis and chuis new pcsx4all would run on n900 without the need to recompile.

Oh, there's no problem as long as you use it to extend compatibility. But expect binaries to run slower. Specially when a simple "recompile" could make them use the VFP, or Neon.
