Also, would it be fair to say that if most users are finding this app to be working fine, even though it's in the devel section, it should be OK to go for it?

If most users finding this app working fine, it may not work on your phone............

Just wait until the app is available in Maemo Extras........

it seems to be here in extras:
http://maemo.org/downloads/Maemo5/navigation/

where I can download an install file (to my PC currently as barely 2G reception at the mo)
If I downloaded this to PC, can I transfer to right folder (where?) on the N900 via USB and mass storage mode, and execute it?

That just lists the applications available in the Maemo.org (extras) repository. This repository should be configured on your N900 by default, so all those apps will be available via App Manager (as stable versions - the unstable versions will only be shown if you've specifically configured the extras-testing and/or extras-devel repositories). App Manager (or Ovi) is the preferred way to install applications, as it'll automatically handle any dependencies that the application has.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help.
I understand the way things are done much better now.

I installed the extra's version, then (almost immediately) found a link stating that version wouldn't download what I want due to a change in the geocaching website, so went for a 'he who dares Rodney' and added the devel repository and installed the latest, which works really well.

Cheers guys.
