What's wrong with rebates? This seems like a nice offer for the new buyers.

Rebates aren't a trustworthy discount. You rely on too many thing to go right AND the time involved before you get back your money is often open-ended. In case you didn't know, most retailers really prefer that you don't get the rebate.

Good enough Not that I am going to purchase myself another N900, just wondering to buy as a gift to someone. Better to look for other ways then.

Best thing about this is it probably means they are clearing out inventory. That probably means Meego / Maemo 5 / Harmattan coming soon.

Hopefully, they'll be smart enough this time around to make one WITH and one WITHOUT the costly cell phone radio. Ahem.

Wow. Even though it's only via a rebate (I hate 'em), NokiaUSA.com has a method to get the N900 for only $199.

NokiaUSA.com offers the Unlocked Nokia N900 32GB Smartphone, model no. 002L929, for $199 with $3.99 for shipping via the directions below. That's $146 under our mention from two days ago and the lowest total price we've seen. This quad-band GSM phone features 3G support, a 3.5" 800x480 color display, 5-megapixel camera, QWERTY keyboard, MP3 player, 32GB internal memory (4x the amount of its predecessor), 802.11g wireless, Bluetooth connectivity, up to 9.5 hours of talk time, GPS, microSD card slot, and more. Deal ends August 31. To get this deal:
Click here to purchase the Nokia N900 for $479
Register to trade in an old phone here (It doesn't have to be a Nokia phone)
Apply coupon code "summer290" before submitting trade in information
Print and mail your unique $280 mail-in rebate
Read it here...
