I'm not familiar with pymazon.

Would this allow a user to download full albums from the Amazon store onto the N900?

I know that right now the web store only let's me install individual files and that full albums must be purchased and downloaded using one of the Amazon MP3 store download applications (available for Windows, MacOS, and various desktop Linux distros).

It seems pymazon due to the shortcomings of the Linux Amazon MP3 client. So it should be able to download paid full albums.

Anyone have any progress on getting pymazon packaged for Maemo?

I tried running the package from Google code, but I can't get the necessary pycrypto package to build (no gcc on the N900).

Just do a "apt-get install python-crypto" as root, it's already in the repository, no need to build it.

LOL, I didn't even think to check the repos. I just went straight for the source code.

Has anyone been able to download an Amazon MP3 store album with this yet from the N900 microbrowser?

I'm stuck trying to get amazon.com to issue me a correctly formatted cookie that will let me download the .amz file for my album purchase download but I just can't get it.

I'm following the instructions from here:
http://code.google.com/p/pymazon/wiki/HowToAmzDownload

But for some systems, it requires that you manually edit the cookie that Amazon gives you and change the version number. The how to page says to go to 1.0.10, but this forum reports that Amazon has updated again and you'll need to mark your cookie as 1.0.11:

http://code.google.com/p/pymazon/updates/list
(look at the post by Lee.Ann.Goldstein on July 16th 2010)

Problem is that on the N900, the cookies file is a sqllite file. While it's not exactly plain text, I can still edit it with vi. When I do so I find the Amazon cookie and it does get issued to the N900 browser as 1.0.3 (stupid Amazon).

So I changed it to both 1.0.10 and 1.0.11 and in both cases, the cookie is not accepted by Amazon and it instead issues me another 1.0.3 cookie.

I'd hate to have the ability to download Amazon MP3 store albums on my N900, but be forced to use a desktop browser to first obtain the .amz file.

In case anyone's interested, I wrote up a desktop icon for pymazon.

Assuming you installed python-crypto with apt-get, then downloaded the pymazon code from the first post and ran "python setup.py install" as root in the uncompressed Pymazon folder, then do the following to have Pymazon in your apps menu:

As root, copy the following file to
/usr/share/applications/hildon

http://www.besh.com/~chad/pymazon.desktop

And as root, copy the following file to
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps

http://www.besh.com/~chad/amazonmp3.png

You may need to reboot your N900 to have the app icons display correctly.
