You don't need to edit a file.

I have written a gui for that.

Hi Nano

using the config gui I seem to be unable to tick off the Check passwords option. Do I need to set the password file first manually?

Check password option is not implemented.

There a some problems with passwords.

I add this feature in a later version.

This is excellent Nano. Could you put it in Extras Testing?

What kind of transfer speeds are people getting?

Yes I could, but at the moment I don't know enough about packaging, deploying, distributing and how to upload files to extras...

I have similar speeds as with WINSCP. (about 1.5 MB/s)

Hi Nano,

I'm really looking forward to using this but can't get the server to start.

The status shows wlan ip=300.300.300.300
the server status=offline
and errors= Wlan offline

I'm definatley connected to the wlan though as thats how I'm posting this.

I've set the ip in the config to the same as the n900 and also rebooted afew times.

any ideas?

That is a BUG

Please open x terminal and enter this command to get your wlan ip.

/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 | grep inet

The output is something like this:

inet addr: 192.168.178.100 Bcast 192.168.178.255 Mask: 255.255.255.0

Push the Config Button in TinySmbGui and enter the IP address and the Subnetmask which was displayed by the command and save the settings.

Now try again to start the server.

If the Server-Status is online. The Server running and the config is correct.
You can ignore the Wlan-off message.

Nano,

Awesome work buddy, this is perfect for my needs.

And the transfer speeds are as good if not better than I get with the usb 1.1 connection my N900 is stuck on.

The (error) messages are confusing but it works and thats all that matters,

thanks again!

I did not actually measure transfer speed yet, but I was able to stream music from the N900 to my PC!

Very cool :-)

Thanks again to Nano.

P.s.
In Config the get WLAN/IP buton worked for me and picked up my IP info just fine.

i prefer to treat the n900 as an ftp to transfer files. Mad Developer makes it easy to set up, but you gotta pay extra for cool programs to take advantage of that.
