I've got the exactly same problem. I cannot flash the fiasco image. It stops at "Flashing cmt-mcusw... Sending request 0x50 failed: No error"
But I could flash the eMMC image. Now the N900 won't boot anymore.
Edit:
Now it's dead. I can't even bring it in flash mode...

Oh-oh.
I got this message today, all phone functions disabled. Cleaned the SIM, no dice.
What the?
Also, when I remove the battery, it asks me for date, time, region and language. Is it gone already? I'd not a year old.

most of the sim problems happen because of firmware downgrade or wrong fiasco image.
and if you don't know how to flash you should let it cause you can brick your phone.
read the flashing wiki 5 times and try it another time.

EDIT: ok and it might be your pc too.try it on another pc,use winxp sp3 or ubuntu

If you wait to long before you take out the battery it will ask for date/time. So that is just normal
