And keep an eye in these forums.

Call Phone requires a browser plugin. Originally just for Windows and Mac a Linux version was recently released that works well with Chrome on Ubuntu. A separate development effort would be required to port that Linux plugin to the NIT.

Ah.. But wouldn't it be a hoot to call any US phone direct from your NIT N8xx, and for free (at least for the rest of the year).

I'm using Tear, Fennec (Firefox Mobile), and MicroB -- I use Tear about 99% of the time. I have no trouble using Facebook and various cloud apps. I'm able to use Google Voice (by way of the DialCentral app) without issue either.

In my experience with various PDA's, smartphones, PocketPC's, etc., the N810 definitely does the most online of any of the dozen or so different devices I've owned. I mean, most of my other devices couldn't even check my basic webmail through their respective browsers. Tear is a pretty darn good browser and fast. Fennec is a dog, but fairly slick and modern. MicroB is rather outdated and limited, so if that's what you're using it definitely explains a lot of your issues.

I'd give Tear a try and see what you think. It should definitely get you access back to some (all?) of your cloud apps, and definitely Facebook.

Thanks Internetpilot. Where can I find ''Tear'? I don't see it in either my Applicztion Manager or on the Downloads page here. Anxious to give it a try

I just gave Midori a try and was amazed at the speed compared to MicroB. It even has some HTML5 rendering capabilities. It doesn't have all the features Midori on my desktop has but appears quite usable. Midori was designed with right click in mind for some features but alas the N810's stylus interface doesn't have a corollary. I came across a potential solution which I've yet to try. Basically it uses xmodmap to toggle the "mouse" features between left and right handed making the "stylus click" a right vs left click. You have to manually toggle back to restore normal stylus operation. A bit of a kludge but perhaps workable when assigned to a keyboard function. For now I consider Midori very promising.

You can read all about it here (300+ posts! EEK!):

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...highlight=tear

There are links there to previous/old threads about Tear Browser if you're interested in the history of it. There's also a couple of download links there to get it from the Maemo Garage or Bundyo's website.

Maemo Garage:
https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_...elease_id=2759

Bundyo's website:
http://bundyo.org/maemo/tear/tear-0.3.5-2_armel.deb

If you end up liking Tear, get the Browser Switchboard app that easily allows you to default to Tear as your browser for links, etc.:

Thanks Internetpilot for the Tear instructions. I seem to have a problem though. When I try to install Tear, I'm told I don't have Libpcre3. When I try to install Libpcre3, I get ''Incompatible Application'' fail.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I have chosen N810 at the time when N900 was out. I like N810 because it is not a phone, and because it has bigger screen, which is more convenient to read from.

Yes, use Fennec, Midori, and Opera, though Opera is not FOSS.
Good luck!
