I've got

mp-fremantle-generic-pr is nto available but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source.

Do i need to hae extras/deve and testing aactive? Only I'm sure when we updated to PR1.2 we needed to switch of these catalogues to be able to get the update.

I got that as well when I "apt-get install'ed" from UK 1.2 to generic 1.3, after having upgraded a few hundred packages. I ran 'apt-get update', and then 'apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr' again. There were a few other problems, but it upgraded OK in the end.

Why would it be required to have unsupported repositories enabled to get a supported update?

It is probably not recommended to run 'apt-get upgrade' or similar with extras-devel or extras-testing enabled. You should probably only have the nokia ones and extras enabled when trying to upgrade.

I tried all that and it all looked promising until the apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr

when I got the same error as before saying it wasnt available.

Okay I found the solution.
First, I removed the libsdlixer1.2 package
Then I disabled maemo's extras

I found the solution ! Problem is due to maemo's extra repository that provides a special version of libsdl-mixer1.2 (lversion 1.2.6-5+0m+ogg+mp3 when mp-fremantle-generic-pr needs 1.2.6-5+0m). So here follows my workaround :
First, I disabled maemo's extra repository, using the application manager (fapman seems to not manage this operation very well)
Then I removed the libsdl-mixer1.2 package :
apt-get remove libsdl-mixer1.2
Then I reinstalled it :
apt-get remove libsdl-mixer1.2
Then I installed mp-fremantle-generic-pr :
apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr

And it worked ! I'm now on PR1.3

Uninstalled libsdl-mixer1.2 then tried to reinstall the specific version as suggested using:

apt-get install libsdl-mixer1.2=1.2.6-5+0m5

Unfortunately it then reports:

E: Version '1.2.6-5+0m5' for 'libsdl-mixer1.2' was not found.

Grrr!

Just sorted it: Should be:

apt-get install libsdl-mixer1.2=1:1.2.6-5+0m5

apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr then works! Currently upgrading :-)

You don't need to uninstall libsdl-mixer1.2 before doing this, as the above command will downgrade the errant version.

I think you can try to force the version :
apt-get install perl-base=1:5.8.3-3osso11+0m5

If it doesn't work, find the package on maemo.org (search for perl-base) and manually install it
